What is buoyancy?

It is the upward force exerted by a fluid that opposes the weight of an immersed object.

Experiment:
In this activity we will determine the mass of a body immersed in several fluids with different densities and find out which one shows greater buoyancy.

After taking note of the results for the determination of the body mass when immersed in the different fluids, the participants will answer the following questions:

  • In which fluid does the immersed body have the lowest mass?
  • Which fluid has the highest density?
  • In which fluid does the immersed body have the highest mass?
  • Which fluid has the lowest volumetric mass?

Conclusion:
The higher the density of a fluid, the lower the mass of the immersed body and the greater the force of buoyancy on the body.

Now you understand ...
